WORKSHOPS

Greetings!
 ….. and thanks to all of you who stopped by my studio during 2015 Portland Open Studios weekend. It was such a pleasure to make new friends and see old ones.

Because of so many requests during the Open Studios Tours I’ve decided to offer some workshops in collage-mixed media during the winter months. What better time to add some fun to cool rainy days? Classes will be held either in my studio or at Village Gallery of Art in Cedar Mill depending upon enrollment.

Collage BootCamp
 ….. a one day, 5 hour Introductory workshop for beginners to the art of collage.  You’ll learn about supports, papers, adhesives, tools, and simple composition. There will be several demonstrations of the various techniques throughout the day, and you’ll have time to make several collages to take home.  Classes will be small so there’s plenty of time for one on one attention.

If there is enough interest I will also offer an ongoing collage workshop series called Collage Adventure.  Following is the description of such a class. 

Collage Adventures 101
…. A weekly workshop of 5 five 5-hour sessions geared toward the intermediate and advanced collage artist. It’s appropriate for those who have completed BootCamp as well as those who have a working knowledge of collage and those who need to brush up on rusty skills.

We’ll focus on building your collage supply kit, particularly the process of collecting and creating unique papers. You’ll learn a variety of useful techniques for painting paper using paint, stencils, sticks, brushes, hardware and kitchen tools, found tools and much more.

One on One  is an opportunity to get a bit of coaching on the art subject of your choice in my studio.  The cost is $60 for an hour plus $20 for each additional 15 minute increment. Jo Reimer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in clothing and textiles. She taught home economics and conducted adult art classes and workshops locally and nationally focused on contemporary embroidery, color and design, quilting, collage, art journaling, and altered books. She is currently a studio artist with an emphasis on collage and watermedia.  Jo’s work has been featured in numerous publications  and her art works have also been included in group and solo exhibitions. All registration fees must be paid in full and received 30 days prior to the workshop.

Cancellation and refund policy:  A $25 administration fee will be charge for cancellations made up to 14 days before the event and the balance of your paid fee will be refunded. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after 13 days prior to the event unless your place can be filled. If the workshop must be canceled by the instructor a full refund will be issued promptly.
