Mattie and the Girls

Mattie and the Girls
5x7 Daily Collage

My paternal grandmother, Mattie, is the woman upper left in this photo from the 1920s.  Dressed as they are one would think they've been been to choir practice but that roundish thing one woman is holding looks suspiciously like a football... or maybe it's a watermelon.  Aren't you glad we don't dress like that anymore?

  1. Jo you have such a beautiful way of doing collage, and I love that you incorporate personal images.

The series you mentioned in your previous post sounds like a wonderful idea. I can understand how that can help keep one focused, and foster growth.

And yes, I am soooo glad we do not dress like that!! What would I do without my jeans!!! :)

Was this the original photo or a copy?

  4. I simply cannot bring myself to use the originals of family photos unless I have more than one copy, though I doubt that my descendants will have any use for them. But you never know who will be interested in what. There are lots of photos but still not enough for me... I would like to have more and to know the stories. Mattie was an incredible woman but I only knew her as a child and didn't pay good enough attention.

  5. Hi Jo. I have been away from the blog world for awhile- first with a trip home to Hawaii and then home in time for heavy snow storm and Thanksgiving and now xmas shopping and decorating.. wanted to tell you how much I like your current series (which I believe in very strongly)on your family and family memories.
