What's Going On?

What's Going On?

This piece is 30" x 10", collage on canvas.

Strips of words, painted papers and a few appropriated images from current publications show the chaos of society... the layers of conversation, opinions, stress, and moments of calm which reflect today's life.

I used acrylic medium to adhere the papers to canvas which had been coated with heavy gel medium. I went back in with a tacking iron to make sure all was firmly glued in place.

    1. It is an interesting size and shape, about the same as tearing a full sheet of watercolor paper lengthwise, and it would work great for landscape paintings, too. At home I have this hanging vertically.

  3. Lovely layers! For some reason I'm attracted to stacks, strata and layers. Not sure what that means!

    1. Maybe it means we like old stuff! I used to play on Slate Hill. We kids would hike over the top of the hill that was beside my house, crawl over a barb wire fence and sit on the slate layers at the top and ride down on our bums, not knowing the danger of loose pieces of slate or of lurking rattlesnakes.
I also like old buildings with peeling paint, stacks of lumber, bricks, dishes. I'll bet you do, too, Robyn.
